It's strangely comforting to be so at ease with so strange a scene as Thanksgiving dinner on a beached spaceship. Jaguar in toe, even. Not that he's any urge to go exploring, it seems, which I'm grateful for as I don't think the captain would take kindly to it. Ulixes seems perfectly pleased to keep at my heel and sit beneath my chair. He's ever so well mannered.

Thanksgiving is not a holiday I grew up with, nor was it one I ever felt warranted a good deal of celebration. The perfect combination of my occupation and my general lack of sentimentality has always left me a bit unimpressed with the whole concept, but in this place I don't think anything could be labeled a Hallmark Holiday.

And any invitation to board Serenity must be accepted gratefully. It's not a small thing, I don't think. I've even dressed for the occasion- simple, shear, long brown cotton, perhaps, and worn over boots that have been dragged over every terrain on the planet, but a dress nonetheless. I also brought a bottle of Oban single malt scotch, Cachaca rum, and a 1963 Nacional vintage port. Because you can never have too much to be thankful for, and one ought never show up at a party empty-handed.
