Emergency Santa Boot Sewing

Saturday - for some reason last night I could not get used to the idea that today would be Saturday with no work and lying in. Fortuntely it didn't stop me from sleeping in and not going to work. :)

My day started off well with a visit to the Playstation network (via a Playstation twitter post) to find out that not only had the Christmas costumes had been release for Little Big Planet but also a special Assasin Creed II costume as well! I immediately rushed off to purchase said costumes and update my LBP game with the latest update so that I could admire sack boy in all of his Assasin Creed's glory! It...was..COOL! I can't wait to play a level with him looking all bad ass like that! :)

Later in the day my husband got me the new Nintendo DSi Pink that I had my eye on as an early Christmas present - a total waste of cash but I love my new gadget. I also purchased myself a new paper journal to write down some of my basic thoughts relating to my OCD as my psychologist suggested. Although I'm keeping up this online journal that proves that I am actually living life and am not just trapped in my head as I sometimes feel, the paper journal will be a basic place to write down my thoughts and feelings so I can help relay what's going on in my head to my Psychologist/Psychiatrist. I think/hope it'll work.

Anyway after getting home from my shopping trip it wasn't long before someone knocked on the door. Now apart from salesmen this is unusual as I don't really have anyone enter my house apart from my husbands family. When I opened the door there stood one of my best friends from work dressed ready for a Christmas party she was on her way to with some material in hand. The party was due to start in two hours and she hastily explained (blasted) to me that her son had blown up her sewing machine and she still needed to make some basic Santa boots for the guy at work who had been voted to be Santa this year. Since I was the only person she knew for sure had a sewing machine she shoved the material in my hand and begged me to do something with it to make a pair of the most basic of Santa boots.

Standing in shock at the door as she drove off after hugging me and thanking me for doing her this favor I grasped that I had a short time to just make some basic costume booties and I better make a move on it. My husband, bless him, set up my sewing machine after I cleared a path through my drawing materials and manga stuff so I could get down to business. As I moved (well move is really an exageration as I could barely move at all) around my room trying to find my box with elastic in it (she hadn't thought about how to keep the fabric boots up once they were sewn together) I realised that my room is actually quite a danger to be in. It is so crowed of my anime/manga/art/sewing/craft stuff that one false move and you'll need a resuce dog to find you under the rubble.

Anyway I managed to stich the boots together and sew in some elastic so you could at least put them over your feet and they would stay up around your calves. Were they pretty - oh God no. Were they big enough - I had no clue. The certainly had no shape - well a very basic shape - but they were in no way tailored since I had no idea who was going to where them. They fit on my and my husband so that would have to be good enough. When she picked them up she was overjoyed. I on the other hand hated the fact that I had to hand over such shoddy work and really didn't like doing something so half assed to be sent into public view. My husband, of course, pointed out that she was lucky we were home, lucky that I had elastic so the boots wouldn't pool, and lucky that I did it at all since before she came she had nothing. When she left he had some black sock like costume boots with elastic to hold them up and big enough to fit quite a large foot. I can't wait to hear how they survived on Monday.

Well I've done todays entry here to prove that some life did happen outside my head. I've also writted what went on inside my head in my paper journal.

Not too bad a day again.

Later!
