Every day's like an open door...

I'm now officially on HOLIDAYS!!! Got so much to do... like clean this room and study so I don't suck so much next term...
- Went "camping" (as some people already know) on the weekend - whilst I can't say I enjoyed it (birds! *twitch*), it was something I definitely needed, and I'm all perked up and ready to go for new seasons of TV and new work!
It was absolutely beautiful up there and when I was climbing through the dense forest coated with mist, or staring out at a valley coated in morning light, or splashing in the cold bluegreen waves... that's where I felt spirituality (which

trystan830 is able to put much more articulately) not in a hatefilled sermon in a stuffy institution. Why can't we all accept that we interpret that feeling in different ways (which is how I've interpreted my own Hinduism) instead of condemning each other to the pits of hell?
- I finally saw Hairspray today - and it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Click for much squeeing and a neat little review.

I loved it. LOVED IT. LoVeD iT!!
Hairspray, obviously, is a musical - so the plot and the realism really don't apply, because you become so caught up in the wonder and the excitement and the beat of it all.
Everybody was well cast - Nikki was pure magic and innonence and Seaweed was HOT and also a very good dancer... amongst the adults, I loved Michelle Pfeiffer, the bitchy former Miss Baltimore and Queen Latifah, who was so wonderful and touching as Motor Mouth Mabelle. James Marsden also put in a good turn as the also veeery good looking Corny Collins. The advertising has all been about John Travolta and his turn as Tracy's mum, but... *shrugs*. He was good, certainly - but I loved Queen Latifah and Michelle more. :P
But I think the magic of it really lay in the costumes, the shooting and the music and DANCING- it really oozed 60's rock and roll and fun - a new era for America, and the world. It's just really fun and exciting and innocent - with a great message about being different that, unfortunately, applies as much now as ever.
My favorite pairing (did anyone else feel this way?) is actually Seaweed and Tracy - I do love Link
princess_narnia (despite his narcissism) but I loved Seaweed just that little bit more.
And because I'm a moron, I forgot to post this up... sorry Mel (
