I've been busy trying to get things done these last couple of months.
I'd been meaning to run a game for a long time, but I've never felt that I had enough planned to actually start running it. Given the fact that I don't think I would ever feel ready, and since some of my friends were prodding me about it, I just decided to go with what I had completed. As a result, a lot of my recent time has been taken up planning out the next games before they come. I think it's working out alright even though it's rough around the edges.
Just these last two weeks I got a bit of a reprieve from DMing so I took the chance to study up for the next Warhammer 40k game that's coming in June. I've been playing in an ongoing campaign with seven of my friends, but I've just been losing way too badly the last few times I played so I've determined to read up on my opponent a bit more to see if I can get a good strategy going.
On a related note, one of those friends asked me to paint some of his figures for $. The amount isn't important as he's a friend, which is good since it took me about fourteen hours to paint this first one. Thankfully we're just going to do one figure in between games (a month or so).
Somewhat unfortunately, another friend (my old guild leader in WoW) also contacted me a while back inquiring about painting some of his figures as well. I say unfortunately because he's got a decent amount and I know it'll take me the better part of two months to get those done assuming I can put five hours a day into them during the week days. I couldn't even charge him the 'friend rate' seeing as how it would have run somewheres of five hundred dollars for the hours I was estimating. Not to mention, I don't think my paint jobs would be worth that much in the first place.
Work has settled into a normal pace. There are things I still don't know about it, and it might take a long time to learn since my supervisors don't seem to have a lot of extra time to teach me the ins and outs of different systems. One thing I have gathered is that my contract seems to have been extended another six months though. A mixed blessing as it means they'll keep me on but I still won't get to be an actual UPS employee until that time ends. That means less pay, no benefits, and no phones on property :\
That's the main stuff, there are a few other things kicking around in the back of my mind, but they're on the back burners for sure.
