Sarah Goff nee Boccanegra:
They met in college. Or rather he was in college and she was the check-out girl at the Kash n' Karry a few blocks from his dorm.
When he found out she was pregnant he didn't freak. At least not immediately. Her mom kicked her out. He dropped out of school and found a job and a shitty apartment. They got married in the courthouse. His brother and her sister were the two witnesses.
His mom lived in a home back East. His father, being much older than his mother, had already passed on.
When Michael was born he cried. A son. He had a son.
A few months passed with not much sleep. But they were happy. They were just kids but they had each other.
She cried when she told him she was pregnant again. They were already living paycheck to paycheck.
They started arguing. She started hitting. And throwing. He had scars on his arms from dodging plates.
He met Alisha at a bar. She comforted him. She took his mind off his troubles.
When Gabriel was born he cried. In anguish and happiness.
He filed the paperwork the next day.

Alisha Strong:
They met in a bar. He thought for a moment how disappointed his father would be in him for taking interest in a black girl. These thoughts more than likely fueled their drunken affair as much as his unhappiness with his wife.
He was at the bar a few weeks after giving Sarah the divorce papers when Alisha sat at his table.
When Raphael was born he felt ashamed.
They never lived together but he took Michael and Gabriel to her house when he had them. He wanted his children to grow up together. And he may have enjoyed the warm welcome from Alisha as well.
When Lucy was born he was delighted. A daughter to spoil.
Four children were more than enough.

They met in college. This time actually in a class. He had four children to support after all.
She was kind and sweet. They were study partners after the first week of class. She was pregnant after the second. They were engaged three months later. She was pregnant for six months.
When Ashley and Josephina were born he was heartbroken. Their mother's eyes fell shut for the last time before she got a chance to see them.
They were sickly and kept in the hospital for two months while their lungs developed.
He stopped working and going to school and slept in the chair next to them the entire time.

They met in the hospital. Bridgette was a nurse in the P.I.C.U.. She would fetch him food and clean scrubs while he sat vigil by the twins.
The twins' grandmother visited often and the day they were released she was there to take them home. He offered no argument.
As he watched them walk away from him towards the hospital's exit Bridgette caught his eye. He asked her to meet him at a bar when she got off. He slept with her and told her he'd call her when she left the next morning.
He went to the cemetery and cried apologies for hours.
He called her a month later in a bout of drunken loneliness. He got a vasectomy three days later.
He hadn't seen any of his children since Rebecca's death, save the twins.
When Hannah was born he was numb.

They met at a bus stop. She glared at him when he walked into her accidentally while looking at his watch.
He rode to a job interview. It went well.
He'd lost nearly everything including his car during his mourning. He thought of his children often but couldn't decide if he should make an effort to be in their lives or if they'd be better off without his baggage.
He rode the bus every day to work. Stephanie rode the bus every day to visit her sick mother. They found themselves sitting next to each other and making small talk after a few weeks.
Stephanie had a very dry sense of humour. He felt like he was thawing under her warm presence. He asked her on a date.
They dated for a month when she asked him to marry her. He said no and explained his past relationships.
She told him she was pregnant.
He accused her of cheating. They could have gotten a paternity test but it would have endangered the child at that stage. He begged her not to, just in case. He couldn't go through something like that again.
When Castiel was born he felt more conflicted than he'd ever felt before. He held the boy and waited for the test results.
He sued the doctor who had performed the vasectomy.

Having eight children was difficult. He wanted to spend time with them all but with travel time and the multiple schedules they rarely pulled it off.
They became bitter with him over time and he didn't feel like there was anything he could really do to repair the damage.
He was closest with the twins. He didn't mean to play favourites really but after losing their mother he felt the need to be near them so strongly.
He missed little league games and plays. He missed dance recitals and birthdays and Christmases.
He knew his children spoke to each other on occasion. Hannah went to school with the twins so they'd grown up together. Michael and Gabriel had stayed in contact with Raphael and Lucy, if only to have a respite from their mother's temper.
When he'd taken Michael and Gabriel to visit Castiel when they were younger Gabriel had always made an effort to include Castiel in their games. Michael and Castiel seemed indifferent towards each other.
Raphael and Castiel had never gotten along. They fought every time they saw each other.
Castiel and Hannah always ran together when visiting. They were kindred spirits. Hannah got pregnant in high school and they drifted apart.
When Gabriel was twenty three he came up with the idea for a reunion. He called all the siblings and moms and set everything up for them to meet at the local park. Michael had two children. Raphael had three. Lucy had one and Hannah had one. The park would allow the kids somewhere to run around while the adults caught up.
The reunion was awkward the first time, fun the second time, mundane the third time, and apocalyptic the fourth time. Castiel ignored all communications from his family after that and was the only one absent for the fifth reunion. Gabriel didn't try for a sixth.
