*sigh*

Six days *past* the EDD and no signs whatsoever of the little parasite even shifting. At least it's engaged now - or rather, was 3/5ths at my appointment with the midwife on the 13th, and I appear to have a continued empty bit at the top of the bump, so I guess it's sunk a bite more since then. However, it's getting very wearing as I feel like I can't really go anywhere just in case. So I'm getting a little bit cabin-fever-y. I just wish it'd hurry up, because we're pretty much ready to meet it now!

On the other hand, I'm reading a lot because there's very little else I can do. I did a bit of tidying in the dining room yesterday, grabbed some CDs to go to the charity shop when I do a run, and today I'll start to box up some of the DVDs that we're not going to watch, but which child may want to in a few years time. That might clear some table space (as we have the book shelf and six stacks of DVDs. It's annoying that a DVD is cheaper than a trip to the cinema now!)

Still, a little bit of a relief has just happened. I switched on the boiler to give it a run before it gets too cold out there, to make sure that it still works (don't ask - the boiler is not a selling point of this house) and it turned itself off, much to my horror! A broken boiler heading into winter with a newborn on the horizon and getting closer! So I turned it off, had a panic and I've just tried it again and it seems to be working as properly as it is ever likely to again. So we're going to limp through winter with it and get it sorted together with a bunch of building work in the spring. Phew!

And today I'm going to take it a little easy as I was absolutely knackered by about 4pm yesterday. I'll not be making a from-scratch shepherds pie for dinner, and I must remember to take a nap. And I have the yarn to make an adorable pair of crocodile shaped baby shoes. Hopefully they won't take long. Maybe I can double (or more) the pattern size up as well so that I can make a range of sizes. Maybe a pair for the little Nephew for Christmas, as he'll be six months...

On the news of the baby blanket - I've got all the squares sewn together and just need to find out how to join on the borders - they're knitted straight onto the edges and I've *never* been able to pick up stitches, unless they're the kind that I *just* dropped off the needle. The blanket might need a gentle wash after I've done that, as the squares are quite bumpy and I'd like them to at least have the semblance of being flat! Either way, I'm so nearly there... I'd love to actually finish a project within a year of starting it! This is why the baby boots are starting to appeal - quick to whip up. Hopefully. I'm a slow knitter.

At least at the moment I have a good excuse for sitting still :-P
