Film review

OK. So instead of doing some sewing like I planned, we went to Newport and saw Journey to the Centre of the Earth in 3-D, as that is the closest cinema that was able to show it.

I gotta say, it was great! It's tongue-in-cheek, really quite funny, and does succeed in doing what it wanted to do. Which is put the magic back into the cinema. Hubbs and I both came out of it grinning and laughing, and we nattered about it all the way home.

Brendan Fraser is just about perfect for the part - slightly goofy, very expressive, not too unpleasing on the eye.

I liked the fact that they didn't try to re-tell the book, or make it as if the book didn't exist, but referred to it the entie way through, and even used it almost as a guide book in some places!

The only thing we could have done with is sitting a bit further forward, so that we didn't get the edges of the screen interferring with the 3-D effects. So, if anyone else wants to go see this, sit closer to the front than the back!
