So, it's been a bit since I've seen AF/CH and the bean - mainly due to taking a hiatus from the vegetable box and a clash of schedules. In trying to set something up for the long weekend, I typed this exact sentence in an email:
"Sure! I'll be ready to go any time after 10:30 AM - estimated. I have to run 20 miles first :-)"
It's official. I have reached the point in marathon training where that sounds crazy even to ME. Good thing there's only 2 (soon to be 1) of them left.
Sleep's up - as is what happens when your weekly miles top 50 per week. Wednesday, I slept in (hah! until 7 AM! Usually up before 6 AM to run! GAH!), ran after work in the heat (and let me tell you, it's been 90+ and humid since the beginning of June - at least we aren't Texas!), made a quick dinner and was passed out by 9 PM. This happens at least once a week now.
I can't wait for this to be over. Yes, yes, Mom and
cynic51, I am doing this to myself. Please don't remind me.
But in the meantime, I also have lots of things to look forward to between now and October 9th.
Such as -
*Labor Day weekend fun - DragonCon parade! Catching up with EG! Seeing AF/CH and the bean!
AJC Decatur Book Festival!
*Sept 9-11 - quick trip to NC to see the parentals!
*Sept 30 - Oct 2 - quick trip to Minnesota to see friends, meet the SPH babies, cheer at the
Twin Cities Marathon (my most favorite race EVER!), and hopefully picking apples and going to a corn maze!
*Oct 6 - This one really is the best thing ever. I have a ticket to a live taping of
"Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" at the Chase Auditorium in downtown Chicago. Scheduled panelists are Paula Poundstone, PJ O'Rourke, and Luke Burbank. I cannot even begin to describe how *excited* I am about this, so I won't even try.
And now, I'm going to crack open a beer and start working my way through my other current piece of excitement -
Bright's Passage by Josh Ritter. And probably fall asleep on the couch, because I was up at 5 AM and out the door at 5:30 to do a workout in Piedmont Park this morning. Gah.
I'm looking forward to many things after October 9 - regaining the ability to have a drink AND stay awake beyond 8:45 PM on a weekend night is at the top of the list.
