I browse Youtube constantly. The type of videos I watch range from video game speed-runs to vintage commercials and shows. You know, the stuff from the good old days. I don't have a Youtube account, nor have I wanted to make one until this past weekend.
I stumbled upon
this user's channel. On the surface, it seems like an ordinary channel complete with funny videos from public access television. The channel comprises of videos that are, to quote the account's name, cringe-worthy. Not unique at all, but there is something peculiar about the videos. There are videos on this channel that I haven't seen in years.
For example,
this video featuring "The Art Maker". I never thought I would this see again. The secondary PBS station (sadly, no longer in service) used to air educational programming during the mid-morning and afternoon, and whenever I stayed home from school, I watched the entire block of programming. BTW,
this program too was featured, and I remember it being boring despite my love for music.
The big kicker, though, was realizing that the user was local. We're both from the same hometown, and we've both seen the same commercials and idents
like this one. This local commercial was everywhere in the late 90's.
It got me thinking. I have a treasure chest (not literally) of video cassettes with all sorts of weird ass things in them. Why not post it on Youtube? Yeah, I know. Welcome to 2006 (or whatever year YT became popular), but I haven't had the incentive to do it. I might go ahead and survey the old cassettes and see what commercials and TV idents I have. Gives me a good distraction from my writing and the bottomless pit of job searching.
In closing,
enjoy this thrilling game of pool. I love this video sfm.
As well as this one. Sorry, there are so many videos from that channel that I love.
