Sonia and Nathan's Wedding
so sonia and nathan's wedding...
was the first wedding i've ever been to cuz i don't have any relatives around that get married.
it was really nice, short, and sweet. very unfortunate that sofia couldn't make it cuz she's already started law school in florida. i'm bummed that i left their wedding present in santa barbara because i was in such a mad rush to leave that i completely forgot it. now i have to mail it. it was a grill thermometer. very random present, but if you saw the list i had to work w/, they had some very random shit (i.e. simpsons chess set, true lies dvd, and fondue set?). i personally opted for the fondue set, but it was out of stock.
sonia and nathan are such an awesome couple. they're so amazing. they're my role models to a healthy and functional relationship. they love each other so much, and in such a way that i didn't even believe was possible.
so the wedding ceremony...
nathan is a pastor's son, so his father performed the ceremony. it was very emotionally sweet cuz his father opened the ceremony with a speech to nathan and sonia. he said to nathan, "in the bible, they say 'a wise son makes his father proud' and you nathan have grown into a wise son. and to you sonia, i believe in answered prayers because you are the answer to our prayers. for years, lynn(that's nathan's mom) and i have prayed for a daughter to love our son and you were that answer." They were all crying after that.
then came the "till death do us part, in sickness and in health, blah blah blah part," but i don't remember the exact words because it was something like "in sickness and in adversity." and instead of saying "i do", they made vows i.e. "i, this person take this person to be my husband/wife." so nothing that exciting, but being as i've never been to a wedding, it was nice that a real life wedding isn't anything like some cheesy, generic movie weddings.
and lastly, this is so sonia and nathan. they both love watching buffy the vampire fans. they are hardcore fans starting episode 1. and they own all 4 seasons of the dvd sets. i used to watch buffy w/ them every tuesday, until they finished the series. but well, yeah...at the end of the ceremony, a lot of the adults didn't catch this (there were very many of them since they invited the WHOLE church. i reiterate, nathan is a pastor's son), but they ran off to the theme song of buffy the vampire slayer!!!
that totally cracked me up.
so that was the wedding in the mojave desert. i picked up a bag of $1 oranges along the way there cuz we were in orange country. tres exciting. random tangent. but reception was cool too. arrived there a little late so got seats in the very back, but food was good. we danced and didn't get back in to sb till like around 1 am.
and that was my labor day weekend fer ya. i spent the rest of my time sleeping on saturday, wedding on sunday, and getting my act together for school on monday.
