Dear friend,
I tend to focus on my appreciation for my family quite a bit. Today, I'd like to take a change of pace and mention how much I adore my friendships. Yes, of course my cousins are my friends. They're my best friends and I could go in the direction of saying how I'm glad that my family consists of people whom I do not need a reunion to see, they're my confidants to the greatest extent, and for the most part, I could sit a bar with any one of them and enjoy a drink and a laugh without a care in the world.
But I won't head there. Instead, I'm talking about real friends. Friends that love you even though they don't have to. Friends that stick around and still offer guidance after you've been complaining about the same issue for hours. The friends that are there for an amazing night out and the same friends that comfort you during a heart break.
Somewhere over the past couple of years, I've managed to acquire the most fun, understanding, and loyal friends. Of course there have been friendships that have dissolved just as quickly as they formed, but my true friends will never leave. I realize this may come out sounding like a junior high journal entry, but my intentions are not of that nature.
I've got many different groups of friends. My friends may not all be friends with each other, but each one of them has sustained a significant relationship with me. They have my utmost respect and admiration. For I know I can be more than annoying at times.
And so today, I'd like to send a big "thank-you" out to all of my friends. Thanks for the spontanaeity, the trips, and the tears. Thanks for all of the late-night talks, the thoughtful gifts, and the advice. Thank you for the jokes, the drinks, and the laughter that I know will never stop. Thanks for putting up with me even when you didn't want to and not only meeting, but being polite to those guys that you knew just weren't right for me.
Most importantly, thanks for being who you are.
I'd be nowhere without you.
