John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" at Trinity Church wasn't nearly as good as i expected. yes, the church looks great after renovation but it's no good place for music. lots of echo, very hard to hear the different voices, and very bad view. the performance was only slightly over 1/2 hr long. there was no connection between the reading and the music, or at least, i couldn't make sense of it, or relate to it. the reading was cliche' and forced. i have to say, though, that some of the parts were good, especially the percussion in the last track.
then, at ~ 10:30 i had to walk home all the way from newton corner.
so much for jazz tonight.
