My First Sermon

Nov 19, 2007 08:31

I don't have a lot of time to write in this, but I just had to make a note of leading my first church service ever. My father is very ill, so he couldn't preach yesterday. There were no lay speakers available to cover the church service. My mother was going to handle it for him and have a sing-Sunday; meaning that there would be no sermon, only singing. She got sick, too, so I offered to take care of it. I opted on a sermon rather than song. I hate to sing. So, I preached from scripture 2 Corenthians 5:14-21. It was such an invigerating experience! Leading the group in prayer was really difficult and I don't think that I did such a hot job at it. I barely remember giving my sermon. I got a lot of compliments, though. But of course, people are supposed to be nice in a church, right? I nailed the benediction, though! W00t. What an experience! I was a nervous wreck leading up to the whole thing, but the only word I could think of to describe the experience later was: fun. That was fun!
