I just had one of the coops in my office call my buddy and housemate Miguel (
guinnesscub)
at his office. Penn has just announced decisions for
undergraduate admissions and Miguel's office is being bombarded with
calls, including ones like "why didn't I get accepted?" and "now what
am I going to do?"
Jordan asked why he didn't get in. Miguel ran through an
appropriate set of triage steps to ensure he had all pertinent info and
was providing Jordan with accurate info. Jordan expressed his
concern about being "rejected" since he had not applied to any other
schools (in fact, he hadn't applied to Penn either). Miguel was
supportive but sternly tried to pass Jordan to the domestic admissions
office when Jordan reported that he went to "Metro City" High School in
Chicago.
At this point I cut in and asked Miguel about "my" application.
Miguel re-asserted that Jordan needed to call domestic admissions, then
he realized it was me said "I hate you" and promptly hung up.
I fear I crossed the line...
