things i need to pack for today

Civil War, the way it won't play out. Because Maria Hill. (*grumbles*)
Sometimes I feel like Hollywood, its producers and writers and directors and bigwigs all need to be told "step away from the franchise and let someone else take up the helm with new ideas". And no, the audience won't love those new ideas to start with (witness all the whinging about Mad Max: Fury Road) but a new batch of audience will go "gimme more!" And a large batch of the old audience will go: "hey, that looks interesting, I'd like to see where they're going with this."

Garden thoughts: I think I'll do a small orchard, summer vegie garden, and winter root garden in the backyard, and replace the grass with lucerne and clover and other nutrient grasses that can be slashed and used as mulches.
The winter garden (much less extensive) will be on the stepped garden blocks between the house and the carport - some sun, close to the backdoor for easy access, and lots of traffic - because otherwise we forget that we have swiss chard and broccoli and kailan and peas available to cook and it sits there FOREVER.
And the front yard will be the winter orchard. Citrus and a few stonefruit. Although the citrus isn't doing so well lately.
So I'll get my mum and her garden-hand to dig out the paths between the trees so I can lay down the sawdust, sort out the layout of the trees I want (apricot is an absolute MUST, but I wouldn't mind plums and cherries, too), sow as much green manure as the ground can handle, and get some holes dug for the trees to go into.

I'm going to have to tell my hockey club that I won't be playing on the field for the rest of the season - my calf is getting achy again and I think I'm going to have to excuse myself from the field to get it fully healed.
I'm good to be in goals, though. It's just the running all around the field is going to have to wait a while. Hopefully not forever. I'll be really annoyed if it's forever.
Anyway, today:
- change of clothes for after hockey
- dress pattern and dress fabric for sewing group
- matching thread for dress pattern/fabric
- sharp scissors
- handsewing and bits for cutting
- a plan for the hexie flowers I'm making for a swap
- sewing machine (of course)
The reason I'm making this list here and not going off and putting it all together right now is because I have a cute, warm cat in my lap and I'm a horrendous sucker and can't quite bring myself to move her...
