WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: Because the author has gotten Tiffany's 'voice' down PERFECTLY in Pterry's style. The story weaves together all the little threads of Tiffany's history and present and the questions about her future, and it works in the way that makes me long for Pterry's older work.
FANDOM: Psy-Changeling - Nalini Singh
TITLE: Web Of Stars
SUMMARY: Naya and Julian struggle with the mating bond.
CHARACTERS: Nadiya "Naya" Hunter, Julian Ryder
WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: While I do love the mated pairs in Singh's Psy-Changeling universe, there's a part of me that's always thought it must be kind of terrifying. And this story hits me in the id - Naya as a tough, capable woman faced with a choice to be loved by a man who's not going to give up on her, even as he gives her space. But the real gems of the writing are the interactions between the various characters - between Naya and Keenan, between Julian and Roman, and even the 'interrogation' of Naya by Mercy and Dorian.

TITLE: Something Frivolous And Fine
SUMMARY: Barney heeds Valancy's request for something frivolous for Christmas.
CHARACTERS: Barney Snaith, Valancy Stirling
WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: It's so nice to see the world of Valancy Stirling from inside Barney's head - the intimacies and care he has for Valancy, the little bits and pieces of their life together, the way he's in love with her and doesn't know it - won't know it until the day on the tracks. It's beautifully done, and sweet and aching all at once.
FANDOM: The Princess And The Frog (Disney)
TITLE: The Queen Says Let Them Eat Cake
SUMMARY: In Tiana's opinion this royalty business isn't all it's cracked up to be.
CHARACTERS: Tiana, Naveen
WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: Tiana and Naveen have to go back to Maldonia to be married ("properly") and, oh, everything in this is true to character and true to the realities of life. From Tiana's uncertainty about to world, to her treatment because of the colour of her skin, to Naveen's method of helping her find her balance again. So sweet and real and well done!
