Completely off topic, once you get into later seasons (say S6), then you should read this Atlantis/NCIS cross over. It's short, fluffy, and is all about Rodney showing up in Abby's lab and ranting about AUs. But the characters mentioned are the S6/S7 characters so you may want to wait until then.

I find Ziva extremely refreshing and interesting and now find Kate, in comparison, grating.

I think Kate is one kind of woman and Ziva is very much another. The two would have respected each other and either gotten on famously or struck major sparks. :)

Sorry to poke my nose in, but - I felt the same way, for a while. When I first watched Kate, I liked her a lot. However, as soon as I settled into the Ziva-era, I tended to avoid seasons one and two, because it was Kate and she was a bit grating. I'm over it now, but find the later seasons to be much better.

I think tielan's right - Kate is one kind of woman, and Ziva is another.

I adore Ziva :) And have a little thing for Gibbs/Ziva, even my mother commented on the hints of sparkage.

She seems to stand up to him just a leetle more than the others. Challenges things a bit more often.

I've seen the scene in the elevator where Gibbs tells her something to the effect of 'do your job!' and she tells him, 'I am! But is it too much to ask for some respect while doing it?'

Interestingly, since Ari said Gibbs reminded him of his father, then one wonders if Ziva does the same.
