So there's been a lot of talk about this series, and I have to admit I'm sorry I didn't pick it up sooner. I've always had a penchant for vampire novels (thank you Anne Rice) and I have yet to find a love story I didn't like.
First there's Bella - she's a clumsy teenage everywoman and I'm sure a lot of girls pick up this book and think "that's so me!" She moves to a very small town and finds that it holds some very interesting secrets. In between becoming lukewarm friends with some local girls and fending off the admiration of overzealous boys, she notices the Cullens. And Edward.
Ah, Edward. We've all seen the pictures of Robert Pattinson in his role as Edward for the upcoming movie (yum), but as a true bibliophile I find book-Edward much more appealing. Granted, I haven't seen the movie (and can't wait until December for it to hit theaters), but the fact remains that Meyer's depiction of the troubled "teenage" vampire just takes my breath away. I challenge any girl to read this book and not want to be "dazzled" by Edward Cullen.
Meyer has given readers a great youthful romance in Bella and Edward's story, and the extra dash of danger in the vampires' world is just icing on the cake.
Do yourself a favor, and read this book.
