This week was also the monthly frozen organic food delivery from
Winter Sun Farms. This is
their list of what we'll be getting over the course of the season. Between the veggies & my meat/frozen goods buying, our freezer is FULL. We can probably survive The Second Coming™ just bloody fine. Here was this Tuesday's haul:
+ swiss chard
+ onions
+ garlic
+ some thick gnarly organic carrots
+ potatoes
+ apples
+ pears
+ frozen raspberries
+ frozen butternut squash purée
+ frozen edamame
+ frozen collards
+ frozen diced heirloom tomatoes (about 2 lbs!)
+ frozen corn
+ frozen broccoli
We'll probably be turning some of the corn and tomatoes into chili this weekend that should last us a good while and can be frozen. Almost thankfully, the boy's parents, sister & her husband will be in town next weekend so we'll have help to finish off a lot of this. Plus,
javabird & her man will be coming over for Sunday brunch so we can finally cook that 7lb duck that's in the freezer along with some kale that's taking up space.
We might use the raspberries for a
Super Simple Sorbet recipe from Mark Bittman of the NYTimes.
If there aren't enough, we might make raspberry lemon muffins and call it a (tasty) day.
