12/16 CSA Bounty - Wisdom Teef Edition

Dec 19, 2008 19:07

So, this week's CSA pickup was rather fruitful/full of fruit. Which is normally awesome but because I just had my wisdom teeth out yesterday afternoon I can't fully enjoy them. Sigh. Last night's dinner was a small bottle of Vanilla Ensure and some mashed topatoes made by the boy. Bless his heart. This morning for breakfast he puréed some of our crock pot veal stew and put it over more mashed topatoes. Hell, he just cut up some tasty collard greens from Choice Market for me and mixed it with their insane mac 'n cheese. Sooo good. He's totally getting a coochie coupon issued for this. But, I took care of him last week so maybe it just evens out anyway. Meh.

Hrm, so yeah, about that CSA bounty. Here's what we got:

+ huge bunch of kale
+ even HUGER set of swiss chard
+ spinach
+ 4 green apples
+ 3 pears
+ 3 bananas
+ 3 tangerines
+ 4lbs. of potatoes
+ 1lb each of frozen blueberries, mixed peppers, summer squash, and 2lbs of edamame.

It was supposed to be 1lb of edamame & green beans but got mixed up. I had the options of taking frozen tomatoes as well but opted out. Oh and the potatoes, I bought a 5lb bag of potatoes on Sunday, so now we have about 8lbs of potatoes in our kitchen. I think we should just freeze everything until his parents arrive next weekend to stay.

Crap, right now I can't tell if it's the collard greens strings in my mouth or the suture strings I'm actually moving with my tongue. Whoa, time to get off the interwebs and put some gauze back in my mouth. Along with some Vicodin. Oy.

csa, health
