I decided to delete the post i wrote yesterday because I'm sick of hearing/reading me whining. I'm sorry to whoever commented; I saw there was one but didn't read it.
Early this morning (I was up at 6), I went to Midtown to watch a piece of the Atlanta Half-Marathon and Marathon. It's kinda cool that it's the biggest such event in the Southeast right here in our city. Getting to MARTA to get to Midtown was a little maddening because there aren't very many ways at all for me to get to Lindbergh Marta Station without having to cross Peachtree at one point. And I knew the race was coming down Peachtree. Was it also on Piedmont or was that a different race? I had no idea and it made me feel annoyed and frustrated because getting to the station took forever. Anyway, eventually I made it to the Marta Station so that I could take the one train stop ride to the point which I was trying to watch the runners. It was inspirational to see so many people and so many different kinds of people out there. I even recognized two of the girls from my Mon/Wed running group, so that was kinda cool. And the running store that had a tent nearby gave me a $25 gift card to use at their store just for coming out to cheer on the runners. Pretty cool huh?
I came back home and went over to Memorial Park, which was new for me. Not only had I never been there before, I'd never run over there either. I had a FANTASTIC workout there today! I liked that the area offers a combo of street, dirt/grass, and that rubber surface stuff made from recycled tires. Pretty cool. And today was the long workout: 36 minutes of move-it, move-it. I also decided today that I'm going to finally tackle that 5k on New Year's Day. Not only am I feeling confident that I can finish it, but I'm actually kinda excited about it.
The rest of the day...honestly, it kinda sucked. I wanted to do laundry, but found that my roommate had left our washer and dryer a mess (complete with gross wet laundry) and I wasn't in the mood to clean it up at that moment. Then I tried to cook dinner but have basically no groceries. So I tried to whip something up but it turned out to be a totally inedible disaster. I ended up getting Vietnamese take-out, but it wasn't very good either. I think I may do a fantastic delicious holiday-type meal this weekend. If you're in town, you're invited. Talked to my fam today; Dad offered to buy my plane ticket home for Christmas.
On the bright side, I've had a decent time watching tv this evening trying to muster up my holiday spirit. Watched the tv coverage of the Great Tree Lighting at Lenox Macy's. And now USA is showing one of my favorite Christmas movies - Elf! I think I want to take $25 and see how far I can stretch that for Christmas decorating tomorrow afternoon after I get off work.
"The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear." Ah, I love this movie and will probably watch it every single time I catch it on tv between now and Christmas. LOL!
