First semester of university will be over in less than ten days. I am not understanding this time thing. But whatever. I have eight days to study for my one exam -- my term paper having been handed in this morning -- and explore Montreal. I'm really excited to get out of the McGill Bubble and into the city. Or even out of the city. I've hit up Westmount a few times, and as of 2006 or so, it's back to being an independent city/town/whatever. It reminds me a lot of North Toronto, housing the only Lululemon I've seen in this province, as well as plethora of expensive restaurants and chain cafés. And St. Laurent is like Queen St. W, with cool francophone boutiques that hand out coffee and croissants to customers on Saturday afternoons. And St. Cat's is like Bloor and St. George in Toronto, with big chain stores, although the Holt's in MTL is on Sherbrooke. But I'm super stoked to study too much all day and then bistro it up each night. That's a lie and half. I've been spending way too much lately, and probably shouldn't dine out on a daily basis.
Life's going fairly well. I mean, it can get crazy stressy with essays and such, but that'd happen anywhere. I love the city and the school and, perhaps most importantly, the people. Quiz Bowl and volunteering and chick flick Sundays with the girls... Latin study seshes across the city... Dinner and baking with the cousin who can cook... CBC radio squee, Being Erica, babbles and vino... Reciting poetry on the treadmill, doing sun salutations to Lady Gaga, running up the mountain and out of breath... It all went by so quickly... [insert more puzzlement over time here]
In high school, Emsicality and I did Good Deeds during the month leading up to Christmas, and even though we're a little further apart, it's still happening, isn't it, E? I've done some pretty cool ones... Writing thank you letters to both the mailman and a Canadian soldier in Kandahar, buying metro tickets for the next person who asked to purchase six, buying lunch for the homeless, complimenting a stranger on her scarf (that led to a short but interesting discussion on her trip to Italy)... And then there were the small things, like giving a busker money, conversing with our cleaning lady, putting up quotes in the bathroom for positivity during exams... And it's kind of fun! [SQUEE CAN GO HERE IF IT SO CHOOSES.]
Yawwwwn. I'm tired. And the Jaguar (that's a girl on my floor... we all have animal names) and I just made plans to gym it up tomorrow morning, so I should sleep.
Sorry for neglecting you, LJ. <3
