Saiyuki Gaiden has not exactly eaten my brain, but it's caught it for sure...

I have to admit I've been fascinated by Nataku (and waiting none too patiently for the story to deal with him as more than that very obscure and creepy aside) since Kanzeon went to vist/nag/narrate at him in volume two of Saiyuki. Apperently all I needed to get shoved over the edge into being completely and utterly crazy about him was a little bit of who he actually is.

Because look! He's a brat! He doesn't trust anyone over thirty! He thinks you're all hypocritical users, but knows better than to actually say so out loud! He loves his father and is scared of him at the same time! He knows he's not an object, oh, how he knows it, and he knows better than anyone that something is desperately, desperately wrong, but he's not in a position to stop it, or thinks he isn't, or just isn't ready and then he meets Goku and things start to move and - EEEEEEEEEE. I want to snuggle him and feed him cookies and twitch and fling hissy fits when he plays pranks on me!

Nataku fascinates me, and I know I'm not going to be satisfied till I've written and written and written about him, because oh, that kind of defiance, the way his spur of the moment solution to his conflict of loyalty and love is no solution at all, and is not even an out, because he is a god, and cannot escape so easily.

Also, Konzen and Goku crack me up and make me happy and mash all my buttons in much the same general emotional overload as Sanzo and Goku. Whee!

(Tenpou and Kenren are cute too, yes.)
