Looks like the maturity level has taken a nosedive again.

Yes, I'm talking about the whole wankfest on Mecha Erotica.  I missed it because I was taking my daughter to a doctor appointment but I heard about it later.  Read the comments when they were reactivated.  Shook head and facepalmed a lot.  Saw some of the other comments people made in their own journals too ( Read more... )

Yeah... umm... I've had to take fic down from M_E before because it wasn't in line with the rules. No big really... certainly nothing to get worked up over. Still love the comm, and the mods, actually glad there's a no-sticky rule there.

Rules are rules after all, and when you join a comm, you're bound by it. Thing is, alot of folks dont bother to read them and then throw hissy-fits when they're called on it.

Sure, kissing and touching are humanized actions if you want to call it that, but it can be argued canonically, that TFs were kissing long before humans were created (as per Ariel kissing Orion in War Dawn). The 'humanized sex' the M_E mods were referring to are physical parts and ports strategically placed to mirror or imply those on human anatomy, more specifially, human genitals. I'm not seeing how hard it is to understand that... and using kissing and touching as an excuse.. yeah, that's just.. you can do better than that really.

Ahh young people these days. No imagination unless it's something sticking into something else. Le sigh. What happened to the days when we actually had to be creative to get a mech to overload. I miss those. Maybe I should write some again XD... That was the fun of it.

And no, really? Did they really do the "omg you dont agree with me so I ban you from my LJ (and) comm?" XDDD Umm ok... And seriously, what do Tia's kids have to do with a discussion about interpreting sticky? Tsk... Is that how low some of you have to go just cos she doesn't agree with you? Wow, yeah... way to be creative man.

Yeah, Jo, write some more smex. I miss your stuff.

Their arguments were loaded with name calling, straw man arguments and ad hominen attacks. Everything they argued others were doing. And bringing in the kids? Wow, I was stunned. Tia is a bad parent because she thinks following the rules is important? That's the argument they're making. Sheesh.

Enough. *toddles off to finish Beachy's story.*

You've had to take down a fic? You? Wow! And since you are a mature, reasonable person, it was taken down with no dramafest. Which explains why I never heard about it until now.

Most of us are in agreement on those points. Except for some petty people. I don't see how hard it is to understand. Its not like they changed the rules on the fly. That was the original purpose of the comm.

I know. And they get offended when I tell them that I've read this kind of thing before. Boring. Just because its new and wonderful for them, doesn't mean that it is for everyone that has been around since the beginning of the 25 year fandom. Makes me want to write something new too. Sex by email anyone? :D Foreplay over the world wide web? My problem is the age old one, lack of time.

LOL They did. They couldn't sway me with their unreason and pseudo logic so they stooped to personal insults and called me immature. And they blew everything out of proportion. How does, "I don't read your fics" turn into "I think your fics are crap"? Uh huh. Sorry kiddies, that doesn't work with me.

Hrm, yeah... two years back just after the Movie, I did a little Jazz/Bee Movieverse smutfic with holos and implied holo!sex on top of alt-modes (dunno if you remember it). Wasn't aware M_E didnt allow the holosmut so posted it. Was asked to take it down, did so in the next moment. No biggie really. It's still there on my Quill LJ.

Thing to remember is, when you join a comm, you're playing in the mod's playground. Even if they had created the no sticky rule like a week ago, it's still their comm. You either abide by the rules, or no one's really stopping you from leaving.

And if I wanted to read sticky, I wouldn't even bother with the TF fandom. I'd just go to some anime yaoi comm like ouran_slash. Reason I dont is cos I like the non-conventional tf-smex that lets you do things with the bots that you cant do with humans, or lets you adapt certain human things to apply to the bots.

The trick is to make it unique while still retaining some recognizability, and I like that challenge. One of the reasons sticky just doesnt do it for me, but yeah... I think I'm going off topic.

It's the drama-queen syndrome... makes them feel superior or something, I dunno...

I don't remember it. I'll have to go peek at it on the Quill again. Probably read it when it was first posted.

Another vote for abiding by the rules as they are laid out. Amazing how many of us are in agreement on this. And just on my journal too.

I don't mind the occasional sticky fic, as long as it offers something fresh. Interesting character development, a new way to justify the sticky aspect. A fun story line. Not just the "how much sex can I stuff into here" and "how can I abuse the characters today?" Not that you shouldn't torture the characters, but lets see a little growth and development.

I'm with Mommimus. More smut please? You are so good at it. Please, go off topic too. Topic has been beaten to death.

Drama queening at its less than finest. I should have sold tickets. Yes I get sarcastic when I'm tired. Well, worse anyways. ;) Tia is heading to bed.
