Let the punishment fit the crime

A few weeks back, I won a writing contest.

I did not share this with my writing group or this journal because, I was a little embarrassed.

You see, I won a writing contest on a pen collectors list. We were to hand write in descriptions of our favorite vaccation spots.

The winner was chosen from a list of finalists by the listowner's cat (I was tempted to keep my entry overnight in a jar of catnip).

And the prize was this butt-ugly pen. It's a Rotring Skynn.

It's an OK writer with a fancy custom ground nib. I'll have to get a converter so I can use my own inks instead of the blah cartridges that came with it. It'll never be one of my favorite pens, but I think I'll be rather loathe to part with it.

It's the first prize I've ever won for writing.

Wonder if I could list it as a writer's cred?
