Movie #11 - Snow White and the Huntsman

So I went to the movies - instead of watching football muahaha - to go see Snow White and the Huntsman.

Before I actually go to the movie and what I thought of it, first I have to tell you about one of the highlights of the evening. So we were sitting there through the endless advertisement (20 min, really??), then finally came the trailers (I like that part). So we watch the trailer for Rock of ages, with shirtless Tom Cruise all along, and there is dead silence. Then suddenly appears Scrat and his nut on screen for the trailer of Ice Age 4, and all the girls in the room squeed their heads off LMAO It was awesome :)

And now to the movie...

Did anyone else see it? I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it! Actually more than I expected. Given it is not exceptionally written, but I went in with the expectations of a total blockbuster, not very complicated dialogues, not very complicated story, but fun and action and special effects and fantasy. And that is exactly what I got :)

Snow White and the Huntsman is the tale that we know, but placed in more of a fantasy world, where the princess can kick ass and does not rely on a man to protect her. Although one does :) and so they take on the evil witch. Yes, they need 2 hours for that plot lmao

But it ends up being quite enjoyable, if you can look away from the plot holes and you can fill those with your own imagination. Kristen Steward is ok, not as annoying as in Twilight that's for sure, Chris Hemsworth is exactly how you expect him to be after you see him in Thor LOL Charlize Theron was the one who really impressed me - but then again, when does she not? She plays the queen magnificently, wonderful acting that makes you feel for the queen, and actually gives her a backbone and a history. She is beautiful, but also scared, hurt, and maybe a little crazy :)

She also gets to wear the most beautiful costumes ever! Not just the costumes are great in this film, the shooting is good, the sets are beautiful, and the special effects are good, building that universe for the length of the movie.

I have to mention the dwarfs, just because they are so fantastic. Not only are they a bunch of great British actors, but they are simply a highlight in the film.

Lots of action, nice visual effects, and a cute little romance make up for the lack of dialogue and the plot holes. I mean seriously there are tons of things missing that I would like to have seen (do NOT get me started on the end) or questions that I would have liked to have answered.

Also, anyone heard the song of the movie? I highly recommend it, it is Breath of life, by Florence + the Machine. Totally love the feeling of it!

In the end, I would recommend Snow White and the Huntsman if you want to have a good time, not have to think much, but just turn your brain off for 2 hours and go to another world where things are about fantasy, magic and good versus evil.

One closing question: Anyone knows the name of the Huntsman? :)
