Missed seeing my family at the big campground camping gathering this year. Bites.

Truck shopping. Real job, my commute is now greater than I had anticipated, and I want something that I tinker with a little less now. It's about time.

Wedding and celebration this weekend. Good people, I wish them every happiness.

Reading The Mystery of Capital right now. I'm gonna finish it. Dammit. Not ready to comment yet, other than to say that the impact and application of some of these principles leaves something to be desired.

Thoroughly enjoying The Dresden Files. Jim Butcher is the king of pacing. The local library can't get them here by inter-library loan fast enough.

Been planning a Tech and Civ course with MovieAlex. It's turning into a survey of technology and history running from the Neolithic to the Renaissance and Colonialism. Kind of a History Channel meets a hands-on lab deal. In another day we will know exactly what we are talking about on any given day for the next 4 months.

My other course planning is good too. Alternative Energy and Sustainability is where I'm getting excited in general. CAD and TD are pretty solid. I'm comfortable starting the semester if give them each another 2-3 days of good tweaking and writing up a few project ideas that I've outlined. I've got my other courses outlined. Media Productions needs work (because I need some more work there, and that I need to go in a new direction because the new Film course is eating some of what I was gonna teach.)

The facilities manager tore out a portion of one of my walls as he's trying to give me a new utility sink. I love my labs. I can hardly imagine teaching anything else right now. I like that I have real variety in my day, and that I can have the kids go prototype their own solutions and learn something about interacting with the real, physical world. Having zero hands-on skills and experiences lessens our children.

I've been shamelessly enjoying Top Shot on the History channel. Reality show or not, it's engaging and fun. The shooting challenge component reminds me of growing up with the guys.  We used to do some of this stuff for fun.

That's plenty for now.
