I did! I'm... still undecided on how much I love it, though. I do know that I enjoyed it? Somehow I feel like it's one of those movies I'll enjoy more on a second watch.
Yeah, it is a bit... I don't know. It's everything I expected, but it's an Aronofsky movie. At least it's not like Requiem, which left me wanting to curl up in a little ball.
Favorite scenes? 70 minutes into the movie and Everything Gets Worse. I loved everything with mirrors (omfg whyyyyy are there so many mirrors so damn scary), especially when she is taking measurements and then the rehearsal late at night. And the black swan dance, such wonderful effects.
Natalie makes a wonderful Odette. Mila Kunis as Odile, though... I still don't know. I wasn't really sold on the non-fakedness of her dance; it could be imperfect, but she wasn't moving much like a trained dancer.
There are so many themes subtly approached, I adored how those were done, in particular how damn repressed Nina is.
Requiem made me want to die a million deaths at the end. I can't speak for an hour after watching it, it's just that profound.
When everything started going to the shitter, my friend actually gripped my hand and tugged me closer, hahaa. I was able to watch all of the scenes except the last hospital scene with Beth. Urgh. I'm still unsure what happened. Without spoiling anyone who wants to see it, was it Nina who did it? I was so confused, but I had my suspicions.
Yeah, there were some points we were a bit "ehnnn". And would their company even allow them to dance with their hair down? That seemed like a bit of a stretch.
I like how they built up the tension. And even at the end, you still end up surprised and second-guessing yourself, or just being... plain confused. I'll definitely need a second watch of this. :| Will have to anyway, since my mom wants to see it as well. Bit of an awkward movie to watch with your mother, though. Ahemm.
