For years I've known one or two Reel Big Fish songs and enjoyed them. Today I got their 2002 album Cheer Up! and it. is. so. good. Sort of kicking myself for not having seriously gotten into them earlier.
So, in a fit of bad news, I was informed I wouldn't actually be on the Grip & Electric team for Cheap Fun. This was particularly upsetting to me, as I've been getting up at 9AM for the past 3 weeks to make the 3 hours of extra training the G&E team has been receiving so far this summer. I inwardly moped around for a night before today learning I was instead being assigned to the Sound team! This is, in itself, pretty fantastic news. I had my heart set on Gripping because it is the toughest, most physically laborious job available on a film set. I wanted to be in the thick of things to know if I could handle it professionally. Operating the Microphone-Boom is also a physically demanding job, which gladdens me, but it does not require showing up an hour before production begins and leaving an hour after it ends, which gladdens me more. Also, I'll be working right up alongside the director, the cinematographer, and of course all the actors.
In closing, I got cut from the team I wanted to be on, and got assigned to one I hadn't considered but turns out to be better.
Happy Thursday.
