Adventures in parenting

This afternoon I was doing laundry and Ava decided she wanted to help.
I love this stage because she is interested in everything...but at times it can be quite the curse.
So I tell her she can help me load the dryer, it's perfect for her height.
So I hand her little bits and pieces of clothing and let her put them in.
She helps me shut the door and I start it.
Then, as I am folding clothes, I notice greasy spots in random places.
This doesn't make sense since I pretreat every piece of clothing as I sort the laundry.
Ah, but what do I find *in* the pile of freshly dried clothing?
Why, a tube of chapstick or "smoothes" as my daughter likes to call it.
So yes, there was a tube of chapstick in her tiny little hands when she was helping me
And she decided it needed to go in the dryer with everything else.
The joy! I am now re-rinsing the batch of clothes for the 3rd time today, in a desperate attempt to get the stains out.
I can't help but laugh.
About a year ago Ava wanted to help me do dishes. I was loading the dishwasher and she started to poke her little head in before I closed it up.
I moved her aside in order to get it done and locked it up and started the cycle.
We left to run errands and when I got home I noticed the kitchen smelled powdery fresh.
Well, my sneaky little one had found one of my travel sized deoderants and plopped it in the silverware sorter before I shut the door. I didn't notice and it went through the cycle with the dishes. The deodorant vaporized with the wash but my dishes smelled just lovely, lol.
I was lucky the container didn't melt!

She keeps me on my toes.
