My computer died this morning. It was a brief sudden power outage that lasted 15 seconds. Fifteen seconds enough to take the last legs out of my tired little 5-year old computer (funny how it happens but I get computers every 5 years; I knew that this one was going to die sooner or later, it had to get major CPR last summer and it took about 20 minutes to reboot... So Lynne and I drove off the holler to glorious Whitehall through fabulous Allentown to Best Buy this afternoon. Couple of hours later (almost) all systems are go and amazing how fast this little thing runs (well, I still have to download a whole bunch of software -firefox and photoshop are done- and half my music is hibernating in the hard drive of my old computer, but I am not complaining since now it takes about 5 seconds to open 50 7megapixel photo files on photoshop and I can open them all :) .)

Enough geekiness.

I was told last night (so rightfully) that I do not post enough. There is always room for new year's resolutions, isn't it eh? So here it goes photos from the last few days (no IR, sorry) with minimalistic commentary:

3 days ago we woke up with the thickest fog we've seen in the holler for a while. It was my second day with a nasty rhinovirus thing and I chose to stay home and rest. The day before I woke up sneezing a storm, sounding like snuffy and had to stop to get Kleenex (actually puffs with lotion plus aloe) for my 60 mile drive to work where I was told that they did not need any of my nasty germs around and that i better round trip back home and that I looked liked I ate (several) taco bell (hard shell) tacos. So three or four conference calls later I headed home and decided that i better lay down the next day or so...

this is a shot from that morning

So...
2 nights ago we were graced by the most glorious winter sunset i've seen for years. not that it feels like winter (in Pennsylvania) for some reason we are having California wine country winter this year (no jinx no jinx, please). I had to take a picture

We decorated our tree 2 weeks ago (Douglass Fir, what else?)

and the outside habitat...

but we finished the monkeys' stockings today (they are not going to be here till after christmas)

happy holidays to you all

happy Hanukkah (since yesterday)
