INTRO:
Isn't it fun to take quotes out of context? I THINK SO. faskjajk
Okay, so, Marcus/Oliver was my very first hardcore, do-or-die OTP. I think it was... 2002 when I stumbled over them on ff.net and it just was love at first sight. I knew everything about them, I read everything about them, I even started coming up with my own stories which was something that I'd done, yes, but not to that extent. You know, to the extent that there was a new idea every day. M/O was all I wanted in the world. Seriously, I shipped these boys so hard it wasn't even funny because, frankly, it was scary. And even though I haven't been serious about the pairing for a long while now and I've grown away from OTPs as a general rule, I still flinch a bit every time I see either of them paired with someone else. Because, oh, it's still so perfect in my head. They're still so perfect. They've got the angst and the anger and the need and the sex. It's mostly dirty and often obsessive and sometimes heartbreaking but always always just fit to bursting with this insane passion. And it just makes my little heart go all pitter-pat with the girlish sighs.
The great thing about this pairing is that you can pretty much do anything you want with them. Oliver's only got a bit part in canon and Marcus has even less so there's an endless number of possibilities. Maybe Marcus wants Oliver but Oliver doesn't want him. Or maybe it's Oliver. Or maybe neither of them want the other in the traditional sense but it ends up that way anyway. Maybe they get together at school or maybe it's after they've left. Maybe it's never anything more than sex or maybe they find a common ground and build a relationship. Maybe they come from the same background or maybe there are class issues to deal with. Maybe their families know each other or maybe they never met before Hogwarts. Maybe maybe maybe. Whatever the hell you want to do, you can pretty much do it with M/O. And I've just realized that I'm writing some sort of membership campaign for shippers here so perhaps I ought to stop and get back to the mix. Ahem.
I personally enjoy my Marcus/Oliver to be of the "rivalry with complications" variety. It's a thin line between love and hate and all that. Shoving matches turned furious make out sessions and secret meetings in broom cupboards and "I can't believe I'm doing this, I don't even like you" thought processes, you know. I like obsession and fierceness with a little something else simmering around underneath. I like things to be not at all what they might seem to someone on the outside or, really, even to someone on the inside. And I tried to get all that with the songs I chose, going with lyrics that I felt painted that sort of picture coupled with these huge, heavy sounds to capture that sort of frantic feeling that comes when things are beyond your control. Yes. Ha. I thought that would harder to explain.
Right. So. All files are mp3. I do hope that you enjoy it, thank you for looking. ♥
