For any of you on my flist who are into Tolkien or who might just generally be into fandom/writing (slashy or not), I'm going to be doing a somewhat slightly tardy celebration of my birthday with fellow Tolkienites at this all-day event at the Kennedy School/McMenamin's. Thanks much! It was quite fun, and now I think I'm going to watch selected scenes from RotK here at home on my computer, in my comfy sweats. ;)

Why didn't they put the costume contest between movies, instead of in the middle of TTT? Well, have fun anyway!

Well... until I got over to the contest and realized it was in a completely different room, I saw why they did it that way. It's all right; TTT is my favorite movie. While I haven't seen it in theaters as often as I did Fellowship, I've seen TTT the most with my own DVDs. I've decided to watch a few scenes of RotK here now, with the wind howling outside. I think I need to see the lighting of the beacons, hear Pippin sing, and maybe a couple of other things. Having recently written about the Rangers, and Halbarad in particular, I'm missing them from the films. Still, there was applause and cheering today during that scene at Helm's Deep when the Elves Not Appearing In This Book™ showed up in TTT, and I was right there with them. :P

Thanks, dearie! It was fun, though now my backside is sore from sitting in a non-comfy chair for many hours. It will recover, no doubt. ;)
