So, my incredible awe and public jealousy for
amireal continues to grow by leaps and bounds. I mean, not only has she written what I consider to be the
best SGA story written so far (and still one of the most romantic stories I've ever read) but she continues to write
really, really great stuff.
Also known as Scenes from a Lesser War. Oh, the love. As can be deduced from previous recommendations, I have a distinct love for stories where an author plays with time, telling a backstory in the form of interspersing it with the current story. A two-for-one, if you will. Lesser War does this (forward time in this story) and the final paragraph hits you and then you go straight back to the beginning of the story because *wow* everything fits together even *better* and it's all so much more *impacting* with that final paragraph. (No cheating! Read the story first and then reread it!)
Characterization and quirks are nailed and there is just nothing I don't love about this story. There is so much goodness, from beginning to end.
Okay, originally I was planning on throwing more recs up here tonight, but that was before I had to go back and reread Lesser War again. So, you know, it's totally Amireal's fault. Really.
