This morning was a bit like a video game trying to get from my house to work.
Climbing from the valley I live in, I promptly entered a cloud. Apparently the entire southern portion of the state had repositioned itself overnight to become Cloud Kingdom, and it was my solitary duty to make it though all obstacles in my path to reach my Destiny.
The inhabitants of this realm traveled at breakneck speeds, as though being pursued by invisible dangers. But because I was now traversing Cloud Kingdom, the landscape had turned into a beautiful, white world.
I set about my long journey, at times pausing to reflect upon the beautiful world I now found myself in.
But trouble was about to beset me! The corpse of an earlier brave adventurer, the noble Semi, lay overturned in my path, lying in the newly created river, Mtn. Dew. Local townsfolk worked feverishly to help me continue my quest, despite this portent.
While I waited, I received an important message from the Tree of Wisdom.
And soon thereafter I was able to depart, with grateful thanks to the townspeople for their aid.
As I continued down the path, I realized my faithful companion, SpeedDemon, needed sustenance and we made it safely to the next village, wherein I filled it's belly and we were able to go onwards.
...
And then I finally made it to work, 45 minutes late. :)
But really, the drive in was pretty much spectacular because wherever the fog had lifted, it had left behind a beautiful frost on everything.
Here's a couple of pics of the 1st coat of tung oil on the butchers block. The wood soaked in about 1/2 a liter of 50/50 tung/mineral mix. I've seen stuff wicked up faster (Ellen oiling her saddle for the 1st time in 10 years comes to mind) but I was still pretty impressed with how faster it soaked in and dried off. Though I don't think I'm *ever* going to stop smelling like tung nuts. Jeez.
To give you a bit of an idea of the difference in blonds:
After it had soaked in:
Hey, are kitchen faucet holes in countertops / sinks *really* 1.5" in diameter? *Really*? That's what I measured yesterday at Home Depot, but it just seems so *big*.
