You Remind Me

Driving home after a grueling commute day, I realized that I associate some songs with some people. Some make sense; some not at all.

1. Regret by New Order-Chinky, because it reminds me of us dancing to it at Menagerie. And he only dances when he's drunk.

2. When I Hear Music by Debbie Deb- La Patrona because she is the ultimate Latin chick girl goup girl

3. Beverly Hills by Weezer- Nothingsaid. Have no idea why.

4. What I Got by Sublime- Amy P. Sitting on her staircase drinking tangy wine on a rare sunny Sunday in San Francisco

5. Celebration by Kool and the Gang- my pops. Kool and the Gang, Smokey Robinson, the Temptations remind me of my dad.

6. Beat It by Michael Jackson-all the cool boys in 6th grade because it made me cool. (I used to write Eat It type lyrics for all the Michael Jackson songs and they used to be eager to read my new lyrics.)

7. Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Turtle (was that his alias?). No idea why.

8. Insane in the Membrane by Cypress Hill- The Butcher because he was at the taping of that video and the guys in either side of him got in the video but not him.

The next two aren't quite people related:

9. Desert Rose by Sting- will always make me a little teary-eyed. It reminds me of firedancing and I think also was also around the time I started to feel comfortable about my sexuality and sensuality.

10. Free by Ultra Nate- of clubbing alone in London in a teensy tiny dress, crazy Scary Spice hair, dancing completely sober by myself to this song and feeling, well, free
