The D!
I can't even remember how we heard about this- possibly from TimeOutTokyo- but I'm glad we did. Even if the crowd of almost entirely rowdy white frat boy types was quite irritating as they filed in nonstop for the entire first half-hour-long opening act (some "rock DJ" guy and a Freddie Mercury cosplayer/lip syncher who did the world's lamest "stunt" by lying on his back w/ his feet up in the air & dropping a marshmallow from between his feet into his mouth (which took several attempts, btw). But anyway. A few minutes after 8, some old spaghetti Western trumpet music started (Enrio Morricone's "The Trio",
apparently), and the band came out, launching straight into Tribute!
The show was pretty much what you'd expect- Jack Black being a dick to his roadie (including right before the "Roadie" song, when he said "We have the best roadie in the world... but he's not here tonight." XD), Kyle "quitting" the band, only to come back after the "Dude" song, a drawn-out "jazz" bit featuring JB on 2 recorders at once, followed by a toy sax solo (that plays samples)... The setup for Beelzeboss was interesting, as Jack & Kyle looked over at their zoned-out guitarist, who, they decided, was possessed, and sang that part. The highlight, though, just had to be the finale, with couples everywhere singing gleefully along to "Fuck Her Gently". XD
