Hmmm- not going into the studio today. Laundry, cleaning and catchup instead.
Yesterday was uber frustrating as far as work, BUT I talked to the collector and it looks good! He didn't even blink at the price- just wants to ask his wife (cause they decide on art together), and think about how to rearrange the other work/furnature in the house to find a place for it. Once they're thinking about how to arrange it in their house, it seems like a good bet they're buying. Hope his wife likes it, but haven't had anyone not like it when they see it in person yet (or even lukewarm response), so I think it'll be okay.
Just don't like the way the color/contrast comes out on some screens. Eeek. A studiomate saw it on the computer and said "Gah! Weird!" I let the collector know about the monitor thing. Putting up more pics in better light, hopefully tonight.
Felt like I was about 13 out on a date in calling this guy. Giddy and nervous. Still, on the phone, clear sailing. I swear that a third of being a successful artist is learning how to talk (or NOT talk) about your work in from of curators, critics and collectors.
Had great dinner with a friend. Didn't realize how late it got until it was nearly midnight. We talked about everything from linguistics to brain function, Victorians to mythology and religion. Good food and company cooking as well.
It's funny- living in the middle of the woods mostly alone, one of the things I realized I missed most was just exactly that. Intelligent, diverse conversation with an interesting person, and cooking in unison with friends. Exactly that. Being that isolated made me appreciate good company in a way I never understood before. Glad I'm here.
