My boss pulled a Lumbergh yesterday (a la Office Space), but he took it too far.
"Yeah, I'm going to need you to come in this Saturday. As a matter of fact, I'm going to need you to come in every Saturday for the next 3 months. That would be great."
I think after this I'm going to need a European vacation.

Time again for my yearly job performance review. I had my review with my boss last week. I wasn't really expecting a glowing review this year, because I didn't really try to do anything high profile. I effectively took a 10% pay cut last week. :-/ But I suppose I should be happy I have a job that I enjoy. And the 5 weeks of vacation makes it hard to leave.

That "Excellent" rating seems just beyond my reach once again. I got a good review, but I only got a meager raise. The good news is that my manager made up for it with a nice bonus. The best bonus I've received within the past 3 years. I hope I can make the bonus last.

Things have been pretty busy at work. I've been on a new project since February, but things are still ramping up. I also have a few new team members that I'm trying to get used to working with. One of my new developers is pretty bright, but he's a rebel. He has his own ideas about the right way to run a project, and he's continually questioning ( Read more... )
