how were your blood sugars? (i mean, you dont have to tell me, i just mean were they unremarkable or cause for concern) because if they weren't out of the ordinary, maybe it'd be worth it to take your time and find some reviews on yelp (or post a request on fatshionista) for fat-friendly doctors on your area. (that's how i found mine, actually, and the reviews i'd found on yelp were helpful too)
i WHOLLY SUPPORT GOING TO AN ENDO!! omg. just seeing my endo for a few visits to discuss PCOS (and other possibilities) made me realize that GYN's are FUCKING CLUELESS about PCOS. all they care about is fertility and fertility preservation, and your period. the Endo actually cared about ALL symptoms like hair, skin, nails, pain, body size/shape, and hormone values in bloodwork. none of the gyn's i've seen asked about or cared about any of that stuff, and my Endo was surprised. Endo tests are apparently more expensive and take longer than standard blood work, but they give a LOT of information about what's going on. i wish i'd known this stuff years ago.
actually, even the endocrinologist said that GYN's don't have much business dealing with PCOS, it's just been an unfortunate byproduct of them asking about our periods. there's too much hormonal involvement (including the hormone insulin) for GYN's to give the best advice.
that said, i've only seen one endo, and maybe they're not all like this one, but there you go. my anecdata, let me show you it.
