Assorted randomness.
I didn't realize that Ray Park (Darth Maul) was in the new season of Heroes... then again, I'm not sure I've ever seen his actual face onscreen (Star Wars, X-Men, Sleepy Hollow).
It greatly amuses me that the Heroes wiki calls people with special abilities "evolved humans." Most people who've been involved in my SWRPG campaigns will understand why.
The writers of the latest episode ("Hysterical Blindness") get bonus points for including the theme song from the 80's TV show "The Greatest American Hero" ("Believe It or Not" by Joey Scarbury) in a way that wasn't totally contrived.
I am adding Milo Ventimiglia to the list of actors I really like. Not because of anything his character (Peter Petrelli) did, but because the last episode included a scene in which he played the piano. I suspect the actor actually does play, but at the very least he understands that - with the exception of Ray Charles - people who play the piano do not rock back and forth while doing so. Too many bad actors feel compelled to convey motion while at a piano keyboard while they're only visible from the shoulders up (because they're not actually playing). But rocking back and forth during an activity that requires vertical and lateral movements of the arms and hands is usually counterproductive, and never actually useful - do you rock back and forth while typing at your computer keyboard? Same thing. Hugh Laurie (House, title character) also gets this right, but I think he actually does play the piano.
Episode writers also get some extra points for that scene. It seems like whenever someone puts 2 characters together at a piano keyboard, something goes wrong in someone's brain, to make them think they should have the characters play "Heart and Soul." So for having the characters play an actual piece of music, I have to say to the writers: "THANK YOU SO F---ING MUCH! If you'd gone the other way with that decision, I could never enjoy your show again... because you'd obviously be RETARDED!"
Also: Sylar is officially the best villain I've ever seen. I'm at a total loss to come up with anyone better. Which makes me wonder, in my geekiness: if Sylar fought Darth Vader, who would win?
That's right, nothing serious today. Maybe next time.
