A side note on Le Chevalier D'Eon: the real d'Eon.

So, magic/alchemy stuff in the anime aside, it appears that a lot of the events portrayed in the show aren't that far-fetched:

D'Eon was a member of a spy network called Le Secret du Roi, and was supposed to have used the female alias Lia de Beaumont (in the show, Lia is d'Eon's sister, and sometimes her soul takes over his body).

But this part from Wikipedia I found particularly interesting:

Despite d'Éon's wearing a dragoon's uniform all the time, there were rumors that he was actually a woman, and a betting pool was started on the London Stock Exchange about his true sex. D'Eon was invited to join, but declined, saying that an examination would be dishonouring, whatever sex was discovered. After a year without progress, the wager was abandoned.

Apparently d'Eon lived abroad for a while due to some political stuff, and when he returned to France was declared by the courts to be a woman.  The king even funded the Chevelier's new female wardrobe.  So d'Eon lived the last half of her life as female, and even wore female clothes while fencing.  When she died in Englad it was discovered the she was in fact an anatomical male, though nowadays they think s/he might have had some slight intersex condition or something.  D'Eon also apparently inspired the trans-oriented Beaumont Society.

I may seek a biography for further research of d'Eon's work as a spy as well as the whole gender thing.

That aside: did some shopping today, got some nonperishable stuff as well as food and gravel for the bird (my mom's parakeet is joining me at the duplex, since due to his feathers and stuff he's not hygienically ideal for the daycare or whatever).  After dinner we're going to clean out the van so we can put the big stuff (i.e. furniture) in there, so that I can pack what's left of my smaller stuff into what's left of the boxes.  Currently it's estimated that we'll arrive in Kansas City around noon tomorrow.

Speaking of, I think that dinner might almost be ready.  So, next time you hear from me (and it could be a couple days, because I'm not sure when we're getting Internet at the new place installed, but it'll be soon), I shall most likely be in my own place ^^
