Probably, because it is here, too. But kudos to anyone who caught the Foster's reference, though I think that the kudos (or any other candy bar) would melt if you put off eating it too long right now, haha.
As you might infer from seeing this entry, I paid for the Internets this jubilant month of June (I couldn't think of a j-synonym for "month"), and so here I am typing during the intermission of the waves of precipitation we've been getting this evening, just like we got yesterday as well. It's cooling down a little, thankfully, and so far we haven't gotten hail like we did yesterday. Just some vocal wind.
As some people might also know, yesterday I took advantage of my newly regained Internet to post a new story, "Blind Man's Bluff" (Yomi fans, rejoice!), on the regular sites. So far we've got the prologue and the first chapter up. It's Yomi-centric and due to the time I've gone with he's going to be the only canon character present for a while, so it's been fun constructing the setting and other characters. I've also been at work on the upcoming chapter of "What's Yours is Mine," which shall, suffice to say, be ... weird. I referred to something that'll be in it some entries back, a while back, and I wrote the scene with said something, and--weird, but I like it. I wanna say I've been pushing some boundaries lately, so why the hell not? XP
Hell, given the weather, perhaps I ought to shoot for an update of "Humidity" sometime soon.
Aside from that I've been working on some other stuff. Writing some other stuff, job-searching (got a few stops I need to make in town on Tuesday, I've already figured out), and reading. I've been doing a lot of reading. Like, the latter part of this past semester, the only real reading I got to do for myself was catching a short story or two from Poppy Z. Brite's Wormwood. Since I've gotten back here, though, I've been reading a lot of stuff, including a textbook I borrowed from Jack on the history of the English language (actually, I do believe the title *is* A History of the English Language), but here's some stuff that I've completed thus far:
God's Demon - Wayne Barlowe
Jack Frusciante Has Left the Band - Enrico Brizzi
Liquor - Poppy Z. Brite
The Vesuvius Club - Mark Gatiss
Soul Kitchen - Poppy Z. Brite
I think that Brizzi tried too hard to make his book a sort of updated Catcher in the Rye. He makes enough damn references to the title and even more to Holden Caufield *eye-roll* So that kind of bugged me, because I'm not a big fan of Catcher in the Rye, but this book was less annoying than its archetype and has some better substance, and it gave me one of my new favorite terms: Faggot Archangel. Seriously, slap that name on a band or a bar or something, please!
Aside from Brizzi, the reading's been exemplary, but I'd like to put a particular personal emphasis on God's Demon and Liquor if anyone's absolutely curious. Currently reading The Mummy by Anne Rice because my past two attempts have always wound up with my getting interrupted by some long task and I want to freaking finish it!
As I previously said, it's coolling down, but it's still rather muggy. I think I'm gonna wash off some of the slick and read more on Ramses the Damned somewhere cool. Later.
