work it harder, make it better, do it faster, makes us stronger

Man, the last two weeks have kind of been disaster-magnets. Instead of recounting them, I would like to tell a story from when I was in San Diego three weeks ago (the full account of which is still going to show up here at some point. Just to warn you, in case you want to flee now.)

My story, let me tell you it )

This is why I love monks - they lend themselves so well to this kind of silliness. Someone needs to design that game.

(Oh god. Cloud, Zack, Sephiroth - out. NOW. None of you should ever be pregnant.)

Oh, totally! When I was in Italy, I saw quite a few monks, and anything they did was automatically ten times more hilarious or awesome by simple dint of them being monks. "He's driving a car! Hee hee hee!"

(Yeah, we don't need another pregnant-Cloud-abducted-by-ninjas fiasco.)

I know I should probably be more respectful of their lifestyle choices, made out of a deep devotion to Buddha-or-whoever and an abiding belief in the sanctity of life... but. Monks = instant comedy gold. It's inescapable.

(...another one? Meaning there was a first such fiasco? o_O)

No matter their affiliation, monks are always welcome additions to any comic situation. Christian or Buddhist!

(Yeah, that... that was piece of work.)

Or Hindu, or Shinto (although it's practically Japanese Buddhism's Siamese twin and damn my geography lobe hurts now). If nothing else, they can say anything with a straight face.

(...I am both curious and terrified.)

Oh, I was dumpster diving through adultfanfiction.net, and sending some of the more unintentionally hilarious bits to one of my friends. He wasn't actually adbustced by ninjas, he was abducted by some dude whose name looked like "ninja."

The misperception led to a lot of wild speculation before we reread, though.
