Project Bones: Come and Join Us

Jun 01, 2011 14:43

Hey Everyone,

Last week I helped launch an initiative to celebrate Bones and raise money for some good causes. I've been a little remiss about updating on here because I've been so busy, but let me share with you all the difference that a week can make! (all of this is also on my Tumblr http://thnx4thegum.tumblr.com/ )

Hello, Bones fans! Just wanted to drop a line and say thanks to all of you who have donated your money and your pictures to our little projects! I’m so thrilled that so many have responded so quickly and with so much force. My experience has been that the Bones fanbase is full of heart and over the last week you all have confirmed that. Even if you have only been able to contribute a picture, you’ve made a difference!!

Here’s some of the media coverage we’ve received already:

The Voice of TV.com:http://bit.ly/jZxjyR

TV is My Pacifier.com: http://www.tvismypacifier.com/?p=13810

WetpaintTV.com: http://www.wetpaint.com/bones/articles/bones-fans-throw-the-ultimate-baby-shower

Meanwhile, here’s a glimpse at how much we’ve accomplished in just ONE week!!

Project #1: Bones Map

Approximately 175 pictures collected from over 30 different countries! Check out the map so far here: http://yfrog.com/hs1by3j

Our goal is to collect 400 photos by June 30th, so we are at 44% of that goal!!! To get on the map, email a .jpg picture of yourself or your location to gummypjs@gmail.com

Project #2: Baby Book

So far we’ve received 138 entries! As with the map, our goal is 400 entries by June 30th. We are at 35% of that goal so far!

To get in the book send us a baby picture of yourself or your kids and give us a b-day to list you under, along with a username. Pictures should be 48x48 pixels (we know it seems small but it works, trust us!). Again, the email is gummypjs@gmail.com

Project #3: The Baby Shower

Nothing bears out the fact that you all have big hearts more than in this area. We on the Project Bones team could never have imagined we would raise so much money, so quickly!

A whopping 66% - or $1,315 - has been raised toward Shriners Hospitals for Children

Another $1,160 (56% of our goal) has been raised for Stand Up to Cancer

Fundraising for these two charities will continue to be open through the end of 2011, but our goal is to raise $2,000 for each by the time Comic Con rolls around on July 21st. I firmly believe we will be able to meet these goals and far exceed them as the dates draw nearer! A special THANKS goes out to TheVoiceofTV.com for their generous $500 donation!

Some of you have expressed concern via email that you can’t afford to give, and we don’t want to make you feel bad if you can’t. For those without credit cards, you can give to Shriners via PayPal, and for those who simply cannot afford it, just by sending in a picture to one of our projects, you are making a difference by raising awareness for these causes.

We are also looking for anyone who is willing to share their personal stories about how cancer, or the work done at Shrivers, has touched their life. We know this can be a very painful, sensitive subject, but you have the opportunity to reach people and give them a reason to donate and we would like to share that. You can send written, audio, or video testimonies regarding either charity to ProjectBones2011@gmail.com Thanks to those who’ve already shared their stories and to those who will! We look forward to sharing them with the rest of you in the coming weeks.

Again, our hope is to present a copy of the map, the baby book, and a total figure of at least $4,000 to Hart Hanson and company at the Bones panel - or in the autograph line - at Comic Con. Fox is very aware of what we are doing and very supportive so we believe we will have no problem delivering them in some fashion.

Please continue to spread the word to all corners of the Bones fandom and get your pictures in! You may also feel free to contact any media outlets to see if they would be interested in covering this story as we want to have as big of an impact as possible.

Thanks,

Team Project Bones :)
