She's the last person left who can speak this language, but she's not letting it go without a fight.

Marie Wilcox, born 1933, is the last native/fluent speaker of Wukchumni. She spent seven years writing up a dictionary, and now with her daughter's help she's recording all the words. Together they now teach weekly Wukchumni classes to members of their tribe.
