Weekend

rosepurr and I had a fantastic weekend.

Friday night, after work, we met up with our friends Amy & Jay at one of our favorite restaurants in town, Anatolia. We hadn't been there in a while, and we needed quality time with friends. Good food and good company, good times.

We then went downtown for the midnight movie, which was The Room. It has been called "the Citizen Kane of bad movies." rosepurr and I love bad movies. And this one is so atrocious that people have created a second script, a la Rocky Horror, so they can yell, complain, throw stuff at the screen, and have an excuse to be rowdy. Bad acting off a terrible script, nonsensical editing, too many gratuitous and un-arousing sex scenes

It was awesome. In some ways, it could be seen as inspirational, as in "Hey, this piece of crap got made. I can do better."

Saturday, after making our usual rounds for CSA's (we're excited that the season is starting again), we came home and napped. We're not out til 2 too often any more. Not complaining, but we need our sleep.

Then Saturday night, we joined up with our friend tazoberry for a viewing of a new documentary about the life and music of Blaze Foley. He became a legend in the Austin music scene for his sharp songwriting, although he never found commercial success. He held disdain for the music industry, much like his friend Townes Van Zandt. Interesting film (the story is interesting; the music is great; the film, in my opinion, could have been better).

Sunday, after some time in the park and some laundry at home, we attended a wine tasting with tazoberry at the ritzy ICON. On the ninth floor, looking out over the Nashville skyline, drinking good wine, viewing some art, and having more conversation. It was a wonderful evening, and a magnificent end to the weekend.

Reality comes hard at 4:30 am. rosepurr had personal training and I went to the gym with her. I ran and lifted, and then did the tail end of her workout (lots of damn planks!) with them. I went from the gym to breakfast, to my guitar lesson, to work. I was doing okay until about two hours ago. Now, I'm very sleepy. It will be an early night. rosepurr is back on the road, though, so the bed will feel big and empty. The kittens will likely keep me company.

If the way I feel right now is an indication, I will sleep pretty soundly anyway.

friends, food, rosepurr, weekend
