The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Dec 17, 2012 20:07

OK, there wasn't really any bad or ugly. Just trying to get your attention. :-D

The weekend didn't go exactly as planned in a number of ways. We were supposed to decorate for the big party on Friday night, but found out we weren't allowed in the space on Friday, even though we had the key. So plan B. I went home and did everything on Friday night that I was going to do on Saturday morning. I was going to play by ear whether I did my 10 miles on Saturday or Sunday, but Saturday was completely out of the question after the change in plan because of how early we had to start decorating. So I got up and did 3 miles. I ran 28 minutes!!!!! That was Week 8, Day 1 of couch to 5K. My knees were tired and achy running on the pavement, but I did it. :)

I got to the place we were having the party to decorate by about 9:30 a.m. and between decorating, the party, and cleanup I didn't get home until almost 1:00 a.m.!! The party was spectacular! We had almost 100 people, decorations and food were amazing, music was good and the karaoke was a HUGE hit!

In the morning, I felt rather like I had been hit by a truck and slept until 9:45! Miracle! I didn't get out of bed and moving until 11, and didn't get out the door to go running until after noon! It was too late for ten miles because I had a concert to go to later, but I set out to do the six mile loop. I wanted to do Week 8, Day 2, even though I should have taken a day off from running. I was going to see how I felt and abandon the mission if my legs needed the rest, but I had decided to try and run the whole 3.5 mile trail. All the way around is 4 miles, but 1/2 a mile is on pavement. So 3.5 miles on dirt trail . . . . and off I went.

I set the C25K app going and started out at an easy (read: slow) pace. First couple of songs were a little stiff, but I loosened up and kept going - and ran the whole thing!!! 3.5 miles in 43 minutes! MIRACLE! So I am resting my legs today and will wrap up week 8 tomorrow and will finish my last three 30 minute runs before Christmas! Going to try another 3.5 miles this weekend. WOoooooo Hoooooo!!!!!!!

I did the party and out to dinner a couple of times sticking to no sweets, no fried, no alcohol. Another miracle!

Still not losing weight, but I feel better. Hoping I'm building muscle with all of this NOT partaking in the "holiday spirit." Here are a couple of pictures from the party.
