I can't believe how well Aislin's doing in Kindergarten. No, I actually I can. She thrives in that element. Every day she comes home with a new song, a new concept, or a new idea. But if you ask her "what did you learn in school today?" she will say "I don't know." Apparently there is a "feeling center" at school which I gather is a sort of Time Out area where you can go if you need a moment. Lon got put in the feeling center at home the other day because he was pretending to be a baby and he cried too much.
The homework is a bit much (I think) but so far we have been able to play outside for a while right when she gets home for school. Then she comes in and rushes through her homework while I am making dinner so she can use her special homework crayons to draw. It's a new month, ya'll and that means a new Book Report! Yes, another three projects due about the same book by the end of the month! Science club starts tomorrow. Its one day a week for an hour.
Sadly, Aislin says she does not want to do karate anymore. I am not sure what to do about this because it's good for her (I think). But I can't make her like it. She's just decided all of a sudden that she doesn't like it. "too much meditation" she says. And last week she said it was just "too long." After Christmas I might start her with swimming lessons. There is a park district swimming pool right next to her school and they are going to set the schedule so that the swimming lessons start right after 3:00 so its convenient for the Skinner kids.
Meanwhile, Eilie is becoming a KID. Not a baby anymore. Her comprehension is amazing and she can be quite chatty when she wants to be. She loves her some Baby Signing Time and can be quite insistent when she thinks its time for her favorite DVD.
