4 of the 6 icons I uploaded most recently are of women resting their heads on their hands. That wasn't intentional. I don't know what it means other than I happen to have some pretty icons featuring women resting their heads on their hands.

Because of this.

I was reading earlier about how this group helped rescue a deaf and blind Aussie puppie, then remembered that they were the ones who'd taken in the most deeply troubled of Michael Vick's dogs. I did some reading and it sounds like a perfectly wonderful organization. And they're looking for someone who can help with the cats! A paid position! Saving and rehabilitating cats! And I wouldn't need a veterinary degree. And the benefits look pretty good.

It all sounds marvelous except for the fact that, well, it's in Utah. Which I'm not knocking! Not trying to, anyway. I've seen pictures and I think it's probably one of the most beautiful states in the nation. It has a big Shakespeare festival. Indiana Jones grew up there.

But.

And see, I love the outdoors. I do. I'm not athletic, but I have a deep reverence for nature. At the same time, I'm a Yank. I feel most at home in the cold, coastal cities of the north. And I wouldn't know anyone.

On the other hand, I'm starting to think that the thing I need to do, that will shake me out of this funk I've been in for the past seven years, is save someone. (And the one needn't be human. A cat - or a dog - is a one, not a thing.) It's all very naive and grandiose, but I think there's truth to it.

On the other hand, there's library school. That would be a good thing too. Smartening people up is good.

Anyway, that's what I was thinking about today.

That and dolmas, because I love them and we have some.

Another strange statistic: almost a third of Sophie's friends on catster are DEAD. She's a femme fatale.
